Steadymate secures involvement in cancer fundraiser

By: Steven Macleod

TORONTO, Ont. -- In early February, Steadymate by Kinedyne – manufacturers of securement products and accessories for all powersport equipment – showed support for their customer base by sponsoring the 8th Annual Kelly Shire’s Breast Cancer Snow Run.

“When the opportunity to become involved with this thriving charity presented itself, we knew it would be a great way to give back to the community and introduce Steadymate’s quality sled securement products to female riders,” said Larry Harrison, general manager of Kinedyne. “The number of women powersport enthusiasts is growing daily. We want to show them that Steadymate is an involved company that cares about the issues effecting our customers’ lives.”

The Breast Cancer Snow Run started in 2000 after Kelly Shire, an avid snowmobile rider, was diagnosed with breast cancer. Teaming up with her friend Suzy Cayley, together they started this remarkable event to promote snowmobiling to women and raise funds to financially assist those fighting breast cancer.

This year 120 women suited up to ride one of four 150 km trails, compete for awards, and honour the heroic women who battle cancer everyday.

Steadymate made their presence as a Bronze Sponsor by registering participants and educating them on proper securement and tie down legislations, donating prizes for the silent auction, and helping sleds that took a tumble by driving the Steadymate pickup truck and trailer.

“Considering there is an award for the best mishap on the trails, you can imagine there are a few riders in need of a Steadymate tow strap to pull them back on course,” said Jim Hillis, product manager at Steadymate. “We were more than happy to flex our muscles and come to the rescue.”
